Wedding sermon – wedding in Cana

These are a few notes from my sermon at a wedding last Saturday.

This may be a very familiar words, Avery familiar story. The wedding at Cana. Appropriate because it talks about a wedding. But more then that, it talks about Jesus bringing a transformation into our day to day lives. taking those ordinary things and making them extrodanary. Water, a very common and ordinary part of our day to day lives being made into something special wine.

This was the first miracle Jesus performed. It wasn’t his last.

We’re not exactly asking for a miracle today. There is not much we can do about the weather, and I hope that Kenny and Natalie have ordered enough booze for tonight.

No today we are here to witness a transformation. Marriage is a joining together as St Matthew puts it, they are no longer two individuals, they are one flesh. What God has joined together let no one separate.

And this is our pray for today, that Kenny and Natalie will be joined together and that they will love with a love that Siobhan read, a love that is patient, and kind, that does not keep a record. I love that will continue forever.

We gather together today to witness and to celebrate. We pray for a very long and happy marriage or you both and every good blessing from god
